Fred and Elaine Stenman Low Relief Woodcarving Seminar - April 30 - May 2, 2010
Rochester Woodcarver club members and friends had the opportunity to attend a class by Fred and Elaine Stenman to learn the techniques developed by Elaine and Fred which combine low relief carving with details that are woodburned. The carvings were painted with acrylics and stained with oil paint. The class could learn special techniques using full sized gouges and woodburning tools along with elements of design on a small (6"x9") practice piece. The main project piece (approx. 9"x15") had the main design elements relief carved with woodburned details on basswood with bark to create a natural frame.

A big thanks to John Rownd and Terry Johnson for coordinating the class and the others who helped make it happen!
