36th Annual Carving Show – March 24-25, 2012

The 36th Annual Rochester Woodcarvers Show was held March 24-25, 2012 at the 4H Building on the Olmsted County Fairgrounds.

Chuck Johnson – Featured Carver – Club member Chuck Johnson was selected to be the 2012 Featured Carver for the show. This special designation provides Chuck with the entry table so all show visitors will have a chance to congratulate him and see his carving display.

Raffle carvings – We had 50 raffle items (carvings and other items) offered this year by our club members. These items generate income so that we can offer free admission to our community. Check out the quality of these carvings and you’ll see why our visitors travel so far to our show each year to participate!

People’s choice carvings – The People’s Choice carving competition always brings some interesting carvings for display and creates a great deal of suspense until the results are announced. Carvings are returned to the owners at the end of the show. 1st place was awarded to Ben Manor for “The Bear”, 2nd place to John Rownd for his “Musical Mice”, and 3rd place went to Norm Busta for his “Fish Display”. Look for photos of these carvings to be on next year’s show advertising.

Candid photos from the show – Wayne Hendrickson once again was our “roving” photographer capturing the people and experiences at the show. It is always good to see all the people you might have missed during the weekend. Thanks Wayne!
