50th Skyway Display
Our celebration of the club’s 50th anniversary continued with a display in the Rochester skyway system.
Over this summer and fall (2026), a section of the Rochester Skyway is housing the artwork of the our members. Multiple carving techniques are on display, including carving in the round, flat plane carving, chip carving and more. Items are grouped by artist.
Club president Ron Lyman volunteered to lead the project which included working with the Rochester Art Center to schedule the display area in the skyway, the 125 LIVE team to obtain display shelves, requesting club members loan carvings for the display area, assembling prior display shelves (and building additional shelves), collecting all the carvings and finally, setting up the shelves and carving display. Thanks to the volunteer set-up team (Alan, Nick, Delphine, Ron, Linda and Tom) who helped at the skyway and for all the carvers who provided a wide variety of carved items for the display. In addition, thanks to Linda and Tom for the photos of the display, preparation and installation at the skyway gallery!
Here is the link to photos of the carvings and pictures of creating the display.
But don’t just look at the pictures – bring your family, friends and neighbors to go see it yourselves!

Finding the exhibit.
Located in the Rochester downtown skyway above 1st Street SE between the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) Student Life Center (the old DoubleTree Hotel) and the Rochester Public Library.
