40th Annual Carving Show – March 19-20, 2016

The 40th Annual Rochester Woodcarvers Show was held March 19-20, 2016 at the 4H Building on the Olmsted County Fairgrounds.Carving Show Photos – click on the following links to see photos of the show.

Chuck and Bev Stupca – Featured Carvers – Club members Chuck and Bev Stupca were selected to be the 2016 Featured Carvers for the show. Chuck and Bev brought their collection of carvings to display on the featured carver table and demonstrated a wide variety of carving skills. Check out their carvings!

Raffle carvings – We had 43 raffle items (carvings and other items) offered this year by our club members and the Zumbro Valley Woodturners. These items generate income so that we can offer free admission to our show. Check out the quality of these carvings and turnings and you’ll see why our visitors travel so far to our show each year to attend! (Note: one item donated was a single “bark-on” walking stick blank that was not photographed… sorry…)

People’s choice carvings – The People’s Choice carving competition always brings some interesting carvings for display and creates a great deal of suspense until the results are announced. Carvings are returned to the owners at the end of the show. 1st place was awarded to Terry Johnson for “Bossy” and Farmer, 2nd place went to Carl Beckendorf for “Moose Antler-Eagle” and there was a tie for third place, Steve Thalacker for “Grizzly Bear” and LaVerne Schettl for “At the Waterhole”. Look for photos of these carvings to be on next year’s show advertising.

Candid photos from the show – Our club “paparazzi” – Wayne Hendrickson – was busy again this year taking photos of people and experiences at the show. It is always good to see all the people you might have missed during the weekend. Thanks Wayne!
