The Virtual Table of Tom Severson*

Tom Severson started woodcarving by taking a beginner’s woodcarving class offered through Rochester Community Education taught by Ev Ellenwood. Tom enjoys a variety of woodcarving styles and has used many of them with his own work. He may be one of the slowest woodcarvers in the club as he is often distracted with another hobby – wildlife photography. Check out one of his favorite photo subjects, bald eagles, in his collection of images.

* The quartz bust of Tom used as the thumbnail link to his virtual table is a fake. It was created for a class about using software to make patterns for various types of woodworking. This example showed how to go from a photo to a marble-like sculpture to be used as a carving pattern. The pattern (converted to look like quartz) was used here without Tom’s prior knowledge.
